Adelaide

Adelaide it has to be said, is probably one of the strangest places I've been to in Australia, so far... That's not to say it's a bad thing, but it was definitely in a league of it's own! On arrival in Adelaide, I was surprised by how quiet it was. There weren't many people around, there were few cars on the roads and most of the businesses had closed early on in the evening. The only stronghold on the city seemed to be the tourists!

The city itself was quite beautiful in areas, with open parklands and waterways as found in other cities, but the real treasure for me was the nearby town of Glenelg, accessed by Tram and situated on the beach. There in Glenelg I visited the Shark Musuem, founded by Rodney Fox, a famous shark attack survivor - sadly also an influencer of the film JAWS - although his current research on sharks is definitely promoting the creatures, and he is a big fundraiser for shark sciences.

I only stayed a couple of days in Adelaide, which was enough time for me to explore some of the main areas and to squeeze in a few beers in one of the city pubs... Best wishes to any of you I met on the Great Ocean Road, who ended up with me on that night out in P.J. O'Briens!!!
