L'oreal - because I'm going grey...
It has finally happened, I can no longer count my grey hairs with my hands, in fact, I don't even have enough toes to add them all up on and thus I once again resort to reaching for a bottle of hair dye, to mask away the signs of age... Now I know that my mother thinks I haven't got any, or perhaps the odd one here and there, but what she doesn't realise is that for every grey hair I seem to get, a memory cell in my brain disappears, and is replaced by a glistening thread from my scalp, which really shouldn't belong there. Ok, the hairs don't technically seem to be grey, they're more white, or maybe silver, but that still doesn't make up for the fact that I'm slowly turning into a character from Tim Burton's "A nightmare before Christmas".
So, enough of my moaning... What have I been up to lately? Well, we left the salmon farm in mid February when our contracts ended and headed south, firstly to my relatives in the North East of England and then on to Gloucestershire. (For all of you not from the UK originally, or for those of you who are and still don't for the life of you know how this county is pronounced it's: gloss-ter-shire! Easy really!)
It was good to be back in Tyne and Wear (h'way the lads) and to catch up with all the "rellies", and of course to show Ben some of the beautiful coastline, although it's a shame that everytime I visit Whitley Bay, it seems to get more and more derilict looking along the sea front - it almost looks artificial and definitely very sad.
Anyway, we left the coast and headed inland and south, to a town called Cirencester, which is quite close to our old jobs in Corsham - so Mark & Hayley better watch out, we'll no doubt be pulling up for a pint in the near future. We're currently employed at the Royal Agricultural College where we work in the shop and bar, which is easy-going and we don't come home smelling of seaweed and salmon, maybe stale smoke - not sure which is worse sometimes! Our boss, who is also called Ben, reminds me of Jonathon - aka "Harry" from DSL for any of you fishy farmers reading this, - he oddly enough is also married to a woman called Amanda???
So yeah, can't remember who I have and haven't told, but I'm planning, or have applied, to do my PGCE in English (and perhaps Drama) this coming Autumn in the UK, so plans have changed a bit and we now intend to stay in the country for at least the next few years. We're still heading back to Australia in July however (our summer, their winter - definitely something not quite right about that!) for a couple of months.
On that note, I should offer my brother Darren and his partner Caroline congratulations as they will be tying the knot in Gibralter in July, just before we head off, so that will at least see us soaking a few warmish rays before we go to probably the coldest place in Queensland!
Right, well hopefully that's updated this a bit... For those of you who don't know, we now have Skype, which is a cool internet phone thingy, well worth looking into www.skype.com which allows free calls to other Skype registered computers and it's free to download! Better than a slap in the face with a wet fish >)))*>
We're off to Germany next month for 8 or so days, so more interesting photos coming... If I can't find any to add in the near future!
Tschüss

Hi Kirsten...good to read your latest comments. And weird, because I too have the grey hair problem and am on my way out to purchase something along the L'Oreal line myself right now! Except I'm beating you, because I must be about 80% natural grey myself these days. So scary.
Since your mum passed on your blog address to me, I'm checking it out now and then, so feel free to leave a message! Don't really want to post my email address or mobile number here :)

Hey Sue,
I read your last comment too, cheers for that! Good to hear from you - I can't imagine you being 80% - although it's been a while since I saw you!
I'll text you my e-mail address, on the basis that the last mobile # I had for you is the same... If not I'll find out from mam through the grapevine.
The new job is going well, looking forward to starting my teaching course in September though, if all gos to plan.
Best wishes in the meantime,
Love Kirsten xx
