Special K and the Kia Ora Crew

KIA ORA! Hi there!

Well maybe 14 months behind "schedule" I have finally arrived in New Zealand the land of the long white cloud. I'm actually surprised at how warm it is here as I have to admit, I was expecting to be putting on the thermals when I disembarked... Yeah, ok so I'm a little ditzy but I figured everyone was telling me how cold it was here, that I should come prepared! I guess in a few months I'll be grateful for the jumpers I brought - yes Ben, I didn't leave them all with you!

The first week has been quite tough here to be honest, adjusting to life without my Perth friends and Ben around is hard since I'm not staying in a backpacker hostel and I'm not central either. I'm actually living with a woman called May, who is Malay-Chinese and has a really cute (and somewhat energetic) 4 year old girl called Elizabeth, and they live in the Eastern Suburbs close to some beautiful beaches, but away from the social scene. It's good because I save money on rent, but lonely as there aren't many young people around here. I live on widow street if truth be told... no, i'm not kidding! And there are about 15 houses in the cul-de-sac. That's what I call a road with a dead end! (Oooh sorry, couldn't resist!) Just as well we're not married eh Ben! (I'd love to read your thoughts right now!!! Beads of sweat and all - HA HA!)

I've got myself a job now though, which is good as it means my days will be busier, I'll be working full time in a cafe-bar called Picton Street, in the burb of Howick and hopefully it'll mean I get to meet a few more folk. Hurrah, one of the guys is a scuba diver!!!

Well, that's about it for now, as soon as I can download a package which allows me to upload photos onto the site, I'll add some shots of the surrounding areas and Auckland CBD. Until next time, don't forget to e-mail me and let me know how you're all doing, it's great hearing other people's crazy tales too!

Kia Ora...wuff wuff wuff, Kia Ora...It's too orangie for crows... I'll be your dawg... (hope some of you get that!) http://www.tellytunes.com/themefinder_k.asp and scroll to Kia Ora if not. It's from an old t.v advert in the UK!

Anyway, love to you all,
Kay xxx
